What Does A Butt Mask Do And Do We Really Need Them?
ICYMI, your buttocks can be dealing with several problems behind your back (pun intended). “Common problems faced are buttne (butt acne), blemishes, dryness, rough patches, and wrinkles,” says Dr. Goel. But can a butt mask address these concerns? Well, she thinks not.
According to the Goel, butt masks are quite inconvenient to use. For starters, you can’t really walk around with a butt mask on (duh!). You have to lie down flat for several minutes while the mask does its job. So, unless you have spare time and feel like pampering your derriere, a butt mask may not be for you. Plus, a mask works as a temporary solution for your butt-woes, and might not give you the results you’re looking for.
If long-term and lasting results are what you’re after (which should be your ultimate goal), Goel suggests opting for more potent alternatives or in-clinic treatments for the booty. Here are some of the solutions to the most common booty woes by Dr. Apratim Goel:
- Butt acne: If you're dealing with acne breakouts, you need to treat it with topical antibiotics, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, or, at times, you may need an oral antibiotic also, depending on which stage the acne is at. Secondly, hair growth on the butt can also be a source of infection, so consider getting your booty waxed or shaved from time to time
- Blemishes: “If the acne on your butt has left behind blemishes, you need to use something which can help lighten the marks. You can opt for an in-clinic skin polishing treatment followed by a laser. Or you can use active ingredients like Vitamin C or AHAs.
- Dry, wrinkled skin: If dryness and wrinkles are your biggest concern, you can opt for radio frequency treatments to tighten and hydrate the skin around your buttock.
To sum it up, tending to your butt-related skincare issues is a full-time job. “The results don't come just because you apply a butt sheet mask and lie down,” says Dr. Apratim. You need to find out the products and treatments that work for you and be consistent with using them.
