Bought The Wrong Shade Of Foundation? Here Are 5 Ways To Make It Work

Ace your base

Are you even human if you haven’t picked the wrong shade of foundation at least once in your life? Most of the time, we end up buying the wrong foundation from the store because we tend to match the shade to the back of our wrists rather than our necks. Additionally, some foundations look completely different under store light when compared to natural light. Such a bummer! But don’t let your hard-earned moolah go to waste, gals. Instead, try these five foundation hacks that will help you make the most of the wrong foundation shade.

Concealer Too Dark? Use It As Contour

Bought a foundation that’s darker than your skin tone? Fret not. Try these dark foundation hacks instead. Mix a few drops of your concealer or moisturizer with your foundation to make it lighter. You can skip the pricey contour sticks and palettes and use the dark shade as a contour instead. Just apply it on the cheekbones, the jawline, and on the forehead and blend well using a beauty blender. Easy-peasy!

Concealer Too Light? Use It To Highlight

Is your foundation shade making you look like a ghost? Don’t throw it away; use it as a brightening concealer instead. Apply it on the bridge of the nose, under the brow bone, on the chin, and in the center of the forehead to highlight your face.

Foundation Too Pale Or Ashy? Mix Cream Contour

Most international brands come with foundation shades that have cool undertones. Since us Indians have warm undertones, applying a cooler foundation can end up looking ashy. The solution? Add some cream contour to your foundation to warm it up and make it darker.

Foundation Too Yellow? Mix Purple Color Corrector

If you have olive or cool undertones, and picked a foundation with warm undertones, here are some foundation tips that can help. Mixing purple color corrector with yellow foundation can do wonders for you. Alternatively, you can try mixing a cool-toned blush with your foundation. Just scrape some pigment from the pan using a spatula and mix it with your foundation.

Foundation Too Pink? Use a Green Or Yellow Color Corrector

Does your foundation look too pink when applied? Try using a green or yellow color corrector. The amount of green and yellow depends on the undertone of your skin. If you have olive skin, add more green and less yellow. If you have yellow undertones, you can add less green and more yellow.
